Owning your mistakes or the growth mindset in Athens

The Flint Athens is a friendly restaurant that was near to my place in Athens last week. It had great reviews and a Vegan Friendly and Gluten-Free Friendly sign above the door. As a lactose and gluten intolerant, what else can one ask for?

When I went, they carefully discussed potential food for me. They could do pork gyros with a salad. Sounded great!

Unfortunately when they served me, the plate had pieces of pita bread and tzatziki. I immediately asked if this was truly gluten and lactose free. They said sorry and pulled the plate away. Shortly after I got another plate that still had tzatziki. I used to like tzatziki but can't eat it anymore. I asked again, they pulled it again and finally served me a truly gluten and lactose free dish. It was wonderful!

When I went to pay, they said no, they only served me the right meal for the third try so they said it was on the house. They fully owned their mistake!

Would you go back to such a place that could not serve you the right meal you asked for twice in a row?

I did go back for a second time two days later.

They immediately recognized me, greeted me with a big smile and even introduced me to the chef. The waiter exactly knew what my allergies and order was, without asking! I requested the same, and this time they delivered it perfectly.

They not only owned their mistake, they learned from it, and did it with a smile. This is the best way to keep a customer and then get some more. I of course happily paid full price the second time and now sing their praises here! If you go to Athens, check out Flint Athens, they are great!
